IoR Eastern Regional meeting – Thursday 3rd May 2012
The IoR Eastern Region will be holding an afternoon meeting at Eastern Region Roof Training Group Ltd, Unit 14 Sterling Complex, Farthing Road Industrial Estate, Ipswich, Suffolk IP1 5AP on Thursday 3rd May commencing at 4.00 pm. There will be a CPD presentation by Robert Lane from Alumasc. Refreshments will be served.

Minutes of meeting held 9th March 2011
1. Introduction
Mike Goddard thanked everyone for attending this meeting of the Eastern Region of the Institute of Roofing. Everyone introduced themselves.
2. Welcome to Associated Lead Mills
Saul Treherne, Sales Manager for Associated Lead Mills welcomed everyone to their training rooms. He gave an interesting overview of the business of ALM.
3. Update on the Institute of Roofing Regions
All regions, with the exception of two, have or are to hold meetings during February, March and April. Carol Dukes is to organise meetings in the North East and South Wales and South West.
We are building up a pool of guest speakers that regions could call upon to invite to their meetings if they are unable to arrange a speaker for themselves.
To date about 3.5% of the membership has returned the questionnaire that went out with the subscription fee invoices. In analyzing the returns it would appear that generally we are getting the format and timing of the regional meetings correct.
We need to improve our communications with the members and felt that e-mails and the web site whilst useful not everyone has regular access to them or indeed reads all the e-mails that come in to them. It was felt that we should investigate text messaging as well to all members depending upon cost etc. Those present did not feel that text messaging would be of use to them.
It was generally agreed that holding meetings in different parts of the Eastern Region were beneficial to the membership.
4. Presentation on Part L by Chris George, Flat Roofing Product Manager
Chris started by giving an overview of Kingspan and then gave his presentation, which will be available on the website.
He very kindly answered questions from the floor during his presentation.
5. Any other business
Mike Goddard thanked Chris for his presentation, Saul Treherne and Associated Lead Mills for allowing us the use of their very comfortable facilities and providing the buffet and Carol Dukes for organising the meeting.
